Last night's moon is still caught in the trees, hanging like a wind-kicked plastic bag and glowing its mid-morning goodbyes to the long-blinded stars.
Across the yard, the sun ripples up the roof to stare into sleeping windows, tap at protesting eyelids.
Having just awakened, I read, squeeze the sopping pages of a yellow "1984" over my head to clear my eyes of yesterday's clouds.
I challenge the alarm to interrupt, to drop the morning on the floor and sweep it under lunch.
